Every once in a while I will be looking at facebook and someone will post, “like” if you love your daughter. Or “like” if you love your son. Of course I always click “like” because I do love my children. Sometimes someone will even post “like” if you love God. I always want to press “like” 10,000 times, but of course I don’t, I only get one click. Much is said about love in February with the celebrating of Valentine’s Day. It is wonderful to celebrate and express our love to others, but human love can sometimes be so fickle and conditional. Don’t get me wrong, I do love the chocolates that I get from Jon, LOL. I want to share with you about a love that is never fickle or conditional and is freely given.
John 3:16…”For God so “ loved” the world (us) that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever would believe in Him would have eternal life,”
Romans 5:8-10 “But God demonstrates His own “love” toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ Jesus died for us. For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.”
Romans 8:35 & 38…”Who shall separate us from the “love” of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the “love” of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
If you have not accepted Jesus as your personal savior, this is such a beautiful time to accept God’s “love” through Jesus, and let Him lavish that unconditional “God the Father’s love” on you! If you, like me, have already accepted His forever “love,” let’s tell Him now how eternally grateful we are and celebrate His true “LOVE.”

THE SENSE OF HIS PRESENCE!
“Surely the Lord is in this place…” Genesis 28:16
The first time I ever experienced genuine revival I was a layman, a member of a local church where we had been praying for revival for three years. We were honest with both ourselves and the Lord as we prayed. We admitted that we did not know what revival is. We knew one thing for certain. We needed what only God could give us, both as individuals and as a church body.
I have often compared the preparatory work that the Holy Spirit did prior to the coming of revival to that of a dove building her nest! She flies away and selects a twig, or a leaf, or a feather or a piece of cloth, then returns and fits it in to what she has already begun. She comes and goes numerous times. Finally, when she decides the nest is fully finished, she sits and lays her eggs, birthing new life!
The Holy Spirit would on occasion visit powerfully in one of our church services. The presence of holy God would be awesome, and the Spirit would convict of sin. Then it seemed like the Spirit would leave for a time, sometimes weeks, sometimes longer, giving us time to deal with the issues of sin both in our personal lives as well as in the life of the church. Then we would have another obvious visit of the Spirit, and He would once again convict of sin. Then there would be a period of no outward sense of His presence for a time. Then He would return. This continued for a period of about three years. Then the Spirit came and dwelled!
At this point I am going to be careful about what and how much I say. I dare not risk grieving the Spirit by touching His work with a single finger of the flesh. But I am compelled to testify that the presence of the Lord both in the building and on the grounds of that church was incredible! We had to leave the building unlocked and open 24/7. People (church members and non-church members) would come all hours of the day and night just to be in God’s presence! Consequently, we saw scores of people saved, Jews, Muslims, addicts, and one occasion even a witch!
Rev. William Macleod, pastor of the Parish Church in Uig on the Isle of Lewis (in the Hebrides Islands) off the west coast of Scotland was interviewed concerning his conversion during the Lewis Revival in the 1950’s. He was asked what it was like on the island during the Revival. His reply was short, but full of power. “You could feel God everywhere!”
If you share with me the conviction that “we are doing many of the right things in our churches, but we are doing them without the presence and power of the Holy Spirit,” then join with Phyllis and me praying believingly for a fresh coming of the Spirit in this our day…

The Straggly Tree
Christmas has always been a special time for our family. I remember as a little girl the wonderful aromas coming from the kitchen as my grandmothers and mom were cooking. The excitement of the soon coming extended family to celebrate with us the joy and laughter. We would be sipping hot chocolate as we decorated the beautiful tree that Dad had cut down.
One year after Jon and I had married, as we always did, we went to Mom and Dad’s for the holidays. As we entered the living room where the normal beautiful tree was the center of attention, we noticed that this one was a bit straggly. Dad with his great ability to embellish on a story began to tell us what happened. “As your mom and I were walking through the woods, I kept hearing, “please pick me, please pick me. I want to be the “Christmas tree” for a wonderful family.” So what were we to do but pick this straggly one, and Mom did wonders making that straggly tree beautiful. It was a memory making Christmas that year with the straggly Christmas tree story.
I am so grateful that when I too was like that straggly tree, undone and in need of a savior God, even before the foundation of the world saw my need and sent His Son, Jesus to this earth to be born in a manger on that first Christmas. Then He grew up to die on an old rugged cross so that I could become something beautiful and live for all eternity in His heavenly home. John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that He sent His only Son, so that whoever would believe in Him would not perish but have eternal life.”
Have a blessed and thankful Christmas.

BROKENNESS!
“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit. A broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.” Psalm 51:17
After hearing about a continuous spirit of revival in Central East Africa, the door of opportunity opened for Norman Grubb to visit there in 1950. Later he wrote a little booklet entitled, “Continuous Revival” in an effort to put into words what the Lord taught him personally through that visit. According to Grubb, he learned that brokenness is the key word in continuous revival!
David learned this truth at the critical point of his own brokenness in Psalm 51. Some question why David’s repentance was acceptable to God after he had seen to the murder of the husband of Bathsheba, and Saul’s repentance was unacceptable for the sin of failing to slaughter the Amalekites that many would view as much less serious! Each was confronted for their sin by a prophet of God, Saul by Samuel, and David by Nathan, and both admitted their sin before God. However Saul’s repentance was shown to be defective, because he asked Samuel to hide the sin from the people!
It is imperative in such a time as this that we as God’s people re-learn the value the Lord places on humility. The kind of humility that leads to one’s brokenness. Listen once again to the Lord’s first condition for revival, “If My people who are called by My Name, HUMBLE themselves…”.
The enemy will always have voices that conflict with His Word of Truth! Why do you think there has been such an explosion of emphasis on self-seeking, self-reliance and self-justifying in the Christian life? We avoid brokenness at our own peril!
Micah Stampley wrote the little chorus that includes these lyrics,
“Brokenness, brokenness is what I long for. Brokenness is what I need. Brokenness, brokenness is what You want from me. Take my heart and form it. Take my mind transform it. Take my will conform it. To Yours, to Yours, O Lord!”
Amen,

A Significant Life
As I am getting older, I am learning more about what really matters in life. There is a story told by Janice Hune, an associate professor at Kansas State. She said that she was using obituaries as a little window to look at cultural values. She discovered obituaries of the 19th century focused on the deceased’s character while in the 20th century it centered on their financial worth and work.
A life well lived has some qualities that are unmistakable. It is a life of significance declared by God Himself in His word. That life has a significant purpose, to “tell” the great works of God. Psalms 71:18 “When I am old and grey headed, oh God forsake me not until I have declared Your mighty strength to all generations.” Deuteronomy 6:5-7 “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your being. You shall teach these things (what things?) the wonders of God to your children and grandchildren. You shall talk of them when you are in your house, walking by the way, lying down and rising up.” Then, “trust” in the Lord. Psalms 31:14 “Trust in the Lord and rely confidently in Him.” Psalms 28:7, “The Lord is my Strength and Shield; my heart has learned to trust in Him.” Then a significant life has learned what the word “toil” really means. When I am feeling unworthy because I am unable to work in the Lord’s fields because of age, sickness, weaknesses, etc. we must remember what our Lord said when the disciples ask Him, “What are we to do, that we may habitually work the works of God? Jesus replied, “This is the work of God that you believe in Jesus Whom the Father has sent you.”
Keep telling, keep trusting, and keep toiling in believing prayer! You are one of the Lord’s most precious significant ones. Our God has declared it!!!!!

Phyllis
A CAPTIVATED AUDIENCE!
“…and the prisoners were listening to them.” Acts 16:25b
Sooner or later we all have to learn that being saved by faith in Christ does not make us exempt from adversity in life! The spirits of discouragement and despair are always lurking nearby just waiting to attack when problems arise. Fortunately for us, people like the apostle Paul learned how to deal with these circumstances, and both his writing and experience under the anointing of the Holy Spirit are instruction and guidance for us today.
One day Paul and his missionary companions were falsely accused, illegally arrested, beaten severely and thrown into the deepest cell in a prison. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, all the prison cell doors were opened and their chains were unfastened. Miraculously, none of the prisoners even attempted to escape! Why didn’t the murderers, thieves, arsonists, rapists, etc. escape? The answer is found in Acts 16:25. When Paul and Silas could have been complaining about the painful and unjust things that had been done to them, instead they prayed and sang songs of praise to God, and all the while “…the prisoners were listening to them!”
Sometimes Christians wonder if their life is counting. They are not seeing people publicly coming to Christ, lives being changed before their eyes, etc. Never forget the old adage, “You are the only Bible someone is reading!” And people especially observe how we react to adversity! Anyone can be happy when things are going well, but the person without Christ wants to know if Jesus Christ makes a difference when things go bad.
Remember Christian, the prisoners are listening to you…

But God, it hurts!
This time of the year when all the shrubs and flowers are in bloom takes me back to an event that happened several years ago, when Jon decided to prune (cut back) our front yard shrubs. When he pruned them, HE REALLY PRUNED them, if you know what I mean. A man with electric hedge sheers can be so dangerous. You guessed it, they were just stumps by the time he finished. Not one leaf was left. He tried to reassure me that in the coming spring, they would be even more beautiful. I hate to admit it, but when spring arrived….all the new growth on those old shrub stumps was fresh, thick, and gorgeous.
Would you say, that one of the most difficult things for us to accept is when God has to cut away (or prune) unnecessary hindrances from our lives so we can be more like Jesus? As in horticulture, Spiritual pruning is always done with God’s purpose in mind. It is used to modify direction or to train. Do you know that God uses adversity for His purpose in our lives? As soon as our mind gets snagged on the difficulties, we must take them directly to our heavenly Father, as He knows just how to handle them. He is always saying, “Come!” Do we really deep down know that He has a greater good in mind when He allows trouble to come?
We can rejoice in Psalm 1:6: “I am confident of this one thing, He that began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ.”
Joy,
Phyllis
A TIME TO HOPE IN A HOPELESS TIME!
“Anything God has ever done, He can do now. Anything God has ever done anywhere, He can do here. Anything God has ever done for anyone, He can do for you”…A. W. Tozer
It is a truism that the believer’s greatest hope for the future is the past! Have you ever considered how often the Lord instructed His Old Testament people to continually teach their young of God’s great actions in the past? “Only give heed to yourself and keep your soul diligently, so that you do not forget the things which your eyes have seen and they do not depart from your heart all the days of your life; but make them known to your sons and your grandsons.” Deuteronomy 4:9. Why did the Lord emphasize this? Think about the story in the book of Joshua when the Lord stopped up the Jordan River at flood stage until the entire nation had crossed over. He told the priests to reenter the river and collect twelve stones and pile them up on the new land. “Let this be a sign among you, so that when your children ask later, saying ,’What do these stones mean to you?’ Then you will say to them, ‘Because the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord; when it crossed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off.’ So these stones shall become a memorial to the sons of Israel forever.” Joshua 4:6-7.
We live today in a dark time in our country, indeed in our world. We need to be continually rehearsing for ourselves, as well as for our children and grandchildren, of the mighty acts of God through the centuries. The fact is the greatest numerical additions (evangelism) have come in these great times of mighty spiritual awakenings, and these awakenings have always initially been sparked by a renewed awareness of both the almighty power and everywhere presence of God!
Don’t make the mistake of abandoning hope, but instead renew hope in the One who is worthy of our sure Hope. Join with the psalmist, “Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him for the help of His presence.”

“But God!”
Seems like everywhere we turn, “bad news,” on the TV, radio, news, etc. If we are not careful, we will be sucked into the gloom and doom. Just like many of you, my life has been filled with ups and downs. When this happens to me, I find recounting the mighty works of God helps me move from “fear” to “faith,” and I say with confidence, “BUT GOD.” Let’s travel through the Bible and see that when God’s children were up against the impossible….with God all things are possible. Just a few reminders:
Exodus God’s children were in Egyptian captivity with no deliverer, an impossible situation? ….BUT GOD through Moses delivered them, parted the red sea so that they walked on dry land to cross over to safety and provided every provision that they would need on their journey.
Daniel 6 Daniel was thrown into the lion’s den with no way out, impossible situation?….BUT GOD stopped the mouths of the lions and saved Daniel because of his faithfulness to the Lord.
Matthew 1 Jesus was born of a virgin, impossible?….BUT WITH GOD all things are possible.
Matthew 14 When there were no provisions, with five thousand hungry men, plus women and children and only 5 small loaves and 2 fish with which to feed them, that’s impossible?…..BUT GOD. They were fed and had 12 baskets left over.
Luke 24:6 Jesus was crucified and in the grave for 3 days, an impossible situation? …BUT GOD, “Up from the grave Jesus arose,” and God raised Him from the grave so that we could experience salvation and live with God eternally!
My personal testimony of six months in depression years ago with seemingly no hope… BUT GOD. “God inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up out of the horrible pit, out of the miry clay and set my feet up on a rock. He put a new song in my heart.” Psalm 40
When we surrendered to the ministry and sold our pharmacy, I wondered about our needs being met, but I can say in over 40 years of ministry now OUR GOD has met in abundance every need we have ever had. “My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in Glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19
When our life seems to be out of control, when fear and confusion are overwhelming, let’s remind ourselves of OUR GREAT GOD, Who is always the same, yesterday, today and forever. Hebrews 13:8

WHEN WILL REVIVAL COME?
“Will You not Yourself revive us again, That Your people may rejoice in You?”…Psalm 85:6
In One of his earlier lectures on revival the 18th century revivalist, Charles Finney posed a fascinating question, “When may revival be expected?” He then proposes seven different signs, or evidences that revival is in fact on its way. I want to suggest three of those evidences that give me encouragement to pray in hope of the glory of God in revival.
1 – When the attention of ministers is especially directed to this particular object! For some time pastors have been saying to me, “Revival is the only hope for our churches, the only hope for America!” 2 – When the wickedness of the wicked grieves and humbles and distresses Christians! Increasingly I hear church people say something along the line of, “I never thought I would live to see the day in America that such and such would be taking place, or being done, or being said publicly!” 3 – When Christians have a spirit of prayer for revival! The Godly A. T. Pierson once said, “From the day of Pentecost, there has not been one great spiritual awakening in any land which has not begun in a union of prayer, though only among two or three. And no such outward, upward movement has continued after such prayer meetings have declined!”
Mr. Finney lists other evidences I do not yet see in our day, but I am not going to personally sit and wait! My wife and I invite you to join us in your home as we will be in our home every Saturday night sometime between 6:00 P. M. and midnight, praying for a mighty revival in our churches, our homes, our schools, our businesses and in the streets of America! If you make a covenant with the Lord to join us in this prayer time, let us know, either by e-mail at jmoorejmea@aol.com, or by using the comment section on our web site at www.Christfollowers.com.
